There are many things we love about living in Devine, TX. One of our favorite things about living here is its proximity to a wide range of outdoor activities. Today, we’re looking at some of our favorite ways to enjoy the great outdoors in the area to help inspire you to deepen your connection with nature.
1. Exploring Devine Acres Farm
One fun way to enjoy the fresh air in Devine is by exploring Devine Acres Farm at 944 FM 2200. This beautiful farm features over 40 acres of animals, plants, attractions, food, and entertainment, and it is worth visiting in the fall, winter, and spring. We recommend visiting one Saturday or Sunday between September 30 and October 29. There is plenty of entertainment, including:
- Adorable goat races
- Live music
- Trick-or-treating for your kids
- Zinnia fields
- Sunflower fields
There are many other fun activities you and your family can enjoy at Devine Acres Farm, including a cattle chute maze, burlap bowling, and getting up close and personal with barnyard animals.
2. Hiking at Guadalupe River State Park
We also recommend enjoying the great outdoors by hiking at Guadalupe River State Park at 3350 Park Rd. 31. There are over 13 miles of hiking and biking trails to explore, ranging in distance from 0.2 miles to 2.8 miles. These trails range in difficulty from easy to challenging and may take up to two hours to hike.
If you’re interested in birding, we recommend taking the Painted Bunting Trail to try to spot the songbird. The Bamberger Trail is another popular trail among birders, passing under the homes of golden-cheeked warblers. The Curry Creek Overlook Trail is a great shady trail to hike or bike along on hot days, and you should strongly consider the Discovery Center Loop if you’re going with kids.
3. Taking a San Antonio River Cruise
You also can’t go wrong with taking a cruise down the San Antonio River. You can buy a ticket at 849 E. River Walk and go on a narrated river tour. This 35-minute tour leaves every 15 minutes from 10 AM to 10 PM.
There are also other ways you can enjoy the San Antonio River. For instance, you can park at 849 E. Commerce Street and walk along the riverwalk, stopping to rest and enjoy the view and a great meal.
